HEALER HEAL THYSELF

Our MP, Joe Powell is an honourable man. He is also a leading expert on international money laundering. One hopes he has made his views felt to the PM on the Anti Corruption minister. She sounds a real poacher turned gamekeeper.

Tulip Siddiq should not wait to be fired: she should have resigned as soon as the early Times revelations appeared. It is about all prospective MP’s were checked out by the security services. It is quite wrong that the onus is on the media to protect us from dodgy MP’s.

When Siddiq goes the obvious replacement is Joe.

How fortunate we are to have investigative journos.

Joe Powell MP should make sure that Tulip Siddiq MP is shafted. Tulip appears to have forgotten how she came by a property in Hampstead that she has acquired from her Auntie.

You say, my dear Dame, that Joe Powell is a “honourable man.”

When the Grenfell Report was published, the Council was blamed for failing to act on the Memoli Report which highlighted the disgraceful way that the TMO treated Council tenants back in 2009.

Three Councillors, who were Council Nominated Members of the TMO Board in 2009 are still serving on the Council of the Royal Borough today.

There were calls for the Honourable Gentleman for Kensington and Bayswater to demand the resignations of this dynamic trio –

Elizabeth Campbell, the Leader of Council,

    Quentin Marshall,

    and Emma Dent Coad.

Joe Powell MP did call for the resignations of Campbell, Marshall and Dent Coad.
    Shame be on Joe!

    Politicians have a code!

Flicka Buchan remained loyal to her Tory boss, Boris Johnson, until the last minute. She did not resign from her junior ministerial post in Boris Johnson’s administration until she was absolutely certain that he was being seen off by Tory other MP’s.

Emma Dent Coad’s loyalty to Jeremy Corbyn MP and Diane Abbott MP knows no bounds. Emma Dent Coad supported Diane Abbott MP when her she played out her hierarchy of racism thesis in The Observer. She was also nauseatingly obsequious to Jeremy Corbyn MP when his antisemitism was called out. Marxists stick together like glue.

Joe Powell MP will be no different. He will do the “Good Labour Bloke” routine (because it is one of his own) and not break ranks until it is a foregone conclusion that Tulip Siddiq’s position is untenable.

I survived the Grenfell Tower fire. I was very disappointed that Joe Powell MP failed to call for the heads of Campbell, Dent-Coad and Marshall after the Grefell Tower Fire Inquiry Chairman made the point that the Council’s failure to deal with the Memoli Report in 2009 was a pivotal moment for the TMO to mend its ways.

Emma Dent Coad is on record as saying that the Grenfell Tower Fire was “entirely preventable” and those responsible should be named; and I agree with her. It is ironic to call for naming and shaming when you are one of the ones who should named, shamed and given the order of the boot.

I don’t think Joe Powell can just slot in to the role of Economic Secretary to the Treasury, a role which deals with corruption and dirty money, purely because of his experience in the “clean up money” field.

Politics is a filthy business and Joe has not done all that well in making sure that those on the Council who should be ousted, after the findings of the Moore Bick Inquiry, suffer that fate.

Louise Haigh MP stood down from her role as Transport Minister because she did not want a spent conviction for a minor offence committed ten years ago to be repeatedly aired in the media and detract from the work of the Labour Government. The Magistrates disposed of the charge against Haigh with a conditional discharge. If the Justices felt that any moral opprobrium attached to that offence, Haigh would not have been conditionally discharged.

Louise Haigh has high moral standards and it appears much higher standards than those of Tulip Siddiq. Siddiq wants to tough it out to see if she can stay on in Government even if it is only by the skin of her teeth. Starmer should have supported Haigh – with his support Haigh would have survived. Instead the poor woman fell on her word.

Not true, the bench often make errors. This was a false claim….simple as that. Had it not been it would not have come to court. Siddiq should go.
      Politicians should be fault free

      1. The Magistrate Avatar
        The Magistrate

No Dame, you’re wrong about that.

I agree that magistrates’ courts make many errors. However, I do not accept that the magistrates erred in the case of Louise Haigh.

In the case of Louise Haigh, if she had been advised differently and pleaded not guilty, there would have been a reasonable expectation that the charge would have been dismissed.

A conditional discharge ranks as a conviction but if the offender does not commit any other offence during the discharge period, the matter cannot be brought up again in court. The offender is “rehabilitated” as soon as the discharge period has expired. It is entirely a matter for the magistrates to determine liability and punishments and this is what the Court did in the case of Haigh. For you to say otherwise is misguided and wrong.

I think Siddiq should go because the optics of this are not good and by continuing she is distracting from the work of the Government. She says she has not broken any rules and it has to be determined if she has broken any rules before a decision on her future is made. We are British and we do not conduct politics in the way that they do in some uncivilised jurisdictions for example, in Mugabee’s Zimbabwe.

Boris Johnson did not jump until he was pushed. A parliamentary committee found against the arrogant liar and imposed sanctions. His party eventually and reluctantly shafted him.

I think Miss Trotwood should be appointed to the Westminster bench. She knows what magisterial justice is.

      Dear Pip,

Miss Trotwood is Miss Trotwood. She lives in Kensington and Chelsea. She is a formidable woman. You obviously have not been following the various comments made by Miss Trotwood in various threads on “From the Hornets’ Nest” in the past. She is feared by politicians at election time with good reason.

Your Great Expectations will be dashed if you do not heed Miss Trotwood. Viewings on the Hornet rocket at mention of Miss Trotwood’s name or when she deigns to say something.

The Dame has nothing on the good Miss Trotwood.

Joe Powell MP should not be a shoo-in to the post of Economic Secretary to the Treasury now that Tulip Siddiq has resigned. His failure to call for the resignation of three Councillors in the Royal Borough was a serious error of judgement following the pronouncements of the Grenfell Tower Inquiry. The Government cannot afford any other ministerial errors of judgement.

The Grenfell Tower Inquiry Chairman said that the publication of the Memoli Report in 2009 in to the litany of incompetence and, the bullying, blacklisting and oppressive treatment of Council tenants at the TMO was a turning point for the Kensington and Chelsea TMO to change, to reset.

That “reset” was not to be because three Councillors, who are still on the Council today, failed to do their moral duty and speak up to ensure that the right measures were put in place to address all that was wrong at the TMO; as laid bare by in the Memoli Report. Instead, they all rolled over and the bullying of tenants deteriorated to an all time low by the time the Grenfell Refurbishment Plans were on the table.

    Those three Councillors are

    Elizabeth Campbell,

    Emma Dent Coad,

    and Quentin Marshall.

They were all Council Nominated Directors of the Kensington and Chelsea TMO in 2009 when the Memoli Report was published. They separately and individually failed to ensure that root and branch changes were introduced at the TMO to stop the oppressive culture of bullying and the blacklisting of tenants.

The Grenfell Action Group came in for this oppressive bullying by the TMO a few years later. Solicitors’ letters were sent to the well meaning members of that Group threatening all sorts.

If these community activists had been listened to instead of oppressed, the Grenfell Tower Fire may well have been to quote Emma Dent Coad, “entirely preventable.” With a reset at the TMO, the legitimate concerns expressed by the Grenfell Action Group about fire safety and a host of other matters would have been heeded.

God bless the late Francis O’Connor of the Grenfell Action Group.

Joe Powell did not get Tulip’s job.

Starmer has appointed Emma Reynolds MP to that post.

Starmer thanked Tulip and said that there was “no breach of the ministerial code.”

Starmer’s Independent Advisor did say that he did not get all of the information he wanted – so how Starmer possibly say, there was no breach of the ministerial code when the geezer doing the investigation only had partial evidence.

What can I get you? Your resignation, please.

If these three Councillors had a shred of decency, they would accept responsibility for doing nothing about the TMO in 2009 (when they were ideally placed to get down to brass tacks and improve things) and, RESIGN from the Council. They are all hanging on for the money that they get from the Council every month.

  13. . Avatar

These three ghastly councillors gave way to expediency. They all knew that the TMO was in the most parlous state in 2009 and that “root and branch reform” was needed. They did nothing and should reproach themselves for their shortcomings for the rest of their lives.

The three Tory Councillors on the TMO Board toed the Party Line. The Tories wanted to abrogate all responsibility for housing management to a totally dysfunctional, good for nothing, contractor and both Campbell and Marshall were mindful not to upset Tory cabinet members of the day. Housing was an inconvenient dirty smell under their turned up noses. They were just marking time on the TMO Board until something better in the mainstream Council came along.

What I shall never understand is that EDC was supposed to be the “opposition” in 2009 and even she toed the Tory line. Why?

If they had all done the right thing, after the publication of the Memoli Report, the Grenfell disaster may have been avoided.

If any these three ever think about standing at the next local Council elections then all of this will need to be aired again so that voters will be informed about the gutless and inadequate sort of people that they will be getting.

  15. Council for Scandal Avatar
    Council for Scandal

The Council’s response to the Memoli Report on TMO incompetence and malpractice set out the problems in detail in 2009.

The Tory Council did nothing following the publication of the Memoli Report.

Labour, opposition, Councillors did nothing post publication.

Robert Black, Chief Officer of the disgraced TMO, told the Grenfell Tower Inquiry that the Council was not bothered by it.

So everyone elected on to the Council in 2009 sat on their fat arses, drawing the highest Councillors’ Allowances in the Country at that time, AND DID NOTHING.

A few years later, the TMO turned in to a vile oppressive bully of Council tenants and Grenfell Residents were oppressed from speaking out on a plethora of issues including the Grenfell Tower cladding.

The Grenfell Tower Inquiry regarded the Council’s failure to act on the Memoli Report and put things right at the TMO as a very serious failing. The Memoli Report was an inflection point, a time for significant change, a real turning point.

Campbell, Dent Coad and Marshall should do the decent thing now and resign from the Council over their failure to act in turning a blind eye and cocking a deaf ‘en.

EIGHTEEN MONTHS AGO, THE TORY GOVERNMENT DID NOTHING FOLLOWING REPORTS IN TO CHILD EXPLOITATION AND SEXUAL GROOMING – NOTHING CHANGES.
